With reference to my despatch No.106 of the 25th March, 1920, reporting the grant of nine months' leave of absence to Mr. J. W. Franks, Assistant Superintendent, Victoria Geol, I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that, as no officers already in the service were available for duty in the Gaol, I have appointed Major Christopher Willson, O.B.E., to act temporarily in the post during the absence of Mr. Franks at a salary of $400 a month with free quarters in the Gaol. I should be glad to have Your Lordship's covering approval of this appointment.
